One of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is witnessing the unfolding stories of my clients over the years. Their journeys—from engagements and weddings to family milestones—remind me of the incredible privilege I have to freeze these fleeting moments in time. A few weeks before Christmas, I had the joy of reuniting with one of my past wedding couples, Kyle and Leslie. But this time, the dynamic was different. Instead of capturing their love as newlyweds, I had the honor of photographing their growing family of three.

We met at Green Acres Farm Memorial Park in Flower Mound, Texas, a location that provided the perfect setting for this session. The park’s autumn charm, coupled with the warm glow of the setting sun, created the perfect atmosphere. It was a session that reminded me just how powerful photography can be in documenting life’s evolving chapters.

A Special Milestone: From Wedding Bells to Baby Smiles

I remember photographing Kyle and Leslie’s wedding like it was yesterday. It was during a very challenging time for the entire world, Covid. Fast forward a few years, and here they were—happier than ever, with an adorable one-year-old son completing their family. Moments like these are a testament to how love grows and evolves over time. Their little boy, full of wonder and endless energy, was the star of the session. His bright eyes sparkled with curiosity as he explored the fall leaves. 

The Perfect Location: Green Acres Farm Memorial Park

Located in the heart of Flower Mound, Green Acres Farm Memorial Park is a hidden gem that blends natural beauty with a cozy, rustic charm. It’s a favorite spot of mine for family sessions any time of the year.  The golden sunlight filtering through the trees, the crunch of leaves, and the stillness of the park made it ideal for capturing their first family photos.

The mix of textures and tones perfectly complemented Kyle, Leslie, and their son’s outfits. The earthy tones of the leaves, the weathered wood of the park’s structures, and the vibrant greenery came together to create a setting that was both festive and timeless.

Capturing the Love and Laughter

One of the first shots we captured was a candid moment of the family walking hand in hand down a sunlit path.  These simple, heartfelt moments are often the ones that families cherish the most—images that highlight connection, love, and the joy of being together.

Throughout the session, I made it a point to let their son take the lead. With toddlers, it’s all about embracing their natural curiosity and playfulness. Whether he was crunching through leaves, examining a stick he’d found, or giggling in his parents’ arms, every moment was authentic and full of personality.

Why Family Sessions Are So Important

As a photographer, I often talk to families about the importance of capturing these moments while they’re here. Children grow so quickly, and life moves at such a fast pace that it’s easy for these memories to fade into the background. Family sessions provide a chance to pause, reflect, and preserve these precious stages of life.

For Kyle and Leslie, this session wasn’t just about celebrating their son’s first year; it was also about honoring their journey as a family; from their days as newlyweds to their new roles as parents. Being able to capture this chapter for them was a privilege I’ll never take for granted.
